I started Academy 59 in 2017, as I believe there to be a lack of top quality football coaching available to grassroots players in our local area. I have a passion for football and football coaching, and I want to see the local game improve and give players a platform to develop.
I hold my UEFA B license and FA Youth Award coaching qualifications. As well as coaching Academy 59, I spent 5 seasons working within professional football, working day to day with elite players. I now also coach in the Semi-Professional adult game.
This standard of high quality coaching is what I want to make readily available to all grassroots players within the Hull and East Riding area, and to improve the local grassroots game as a whole.
Dan Nicholson
Academy Coach
Dan has 24 years of coaching experience, 22 of them in a professional club academy!
As well as working in youth football coaching, Dan has coached successfully in Semi-professional adult football, as worked as an FA coach Educator and even for the Premier League.
Dan is a UEFA B license coach, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team.
Steve Wilson
Academy Goalkeeping Coach
Steve started coaching while he was still playing professionally, making 327 professional league appearances!
He has coached for 20 years, all in a professional club setting.
Steve holds both the UEFA B license and the UEFA B license in Goalkeeping, he brings a vast amount of experience to our team, and is a great role model for our aspiring goalkeepers!
Martin Oldroyd
Academy Coach
Martin is a stalwart of the local grassroots game having been coaching for over 20 years with both junior and adult players.
Martin is a UEFA B licensed coach with an infectious enthusiasm for the game. His knowledge and experience of the local game are almost unrivalled and he is a huge asset to our team!
Jon Tucker
Academy Coach
Jon is an experienced coach of 13 years, working with players of all levels both here in the UK and abroad.
Jon holds his FA Level 2 in Football Coaching, as well as the Level 3 FA Youth Award. He has spent 3 seasons working in professional academy football, and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team.
